2015 GKCPC Cavalier
Ladies and gentlemen, this pipe was my submission to the Greater Kansas City Pipe Collectors 2015 Carving Contest. This year the theme was the Cavalier. Much to my surprise and honor, my pipe was selected as one of the top seven submissions. This pipe and the other six winning entries were collected into a special seven day set and raffled off to support not only the carvers involved, but the Kansas City Club as well. This is the second year in the row I have had the pleasure of being selected for this honor.
The pipe itself was my take of a traditional cavalier with just the right amount of modern flair. Unlike the traditional English cavaliers, mine indluded a gently curving shank and two very lovely inserts made from palm wood. The blast is crisp and detailed. The stem and drain cap were created from premium hand cut ebonite rod.
